JUNIOR PAGE ~~ CLASS OF 2011

Here are the tools you will need to work with your counselor to develop a plan for life
after high school.  After completing these, you will be much more ready to think about
specific careers, options, and colleges.

1.

GETTING STARTED
Making a decision about what to do directly after high school can be a challenge.  Although most ASIJ students go directly to college, your counselors are ready to help you explore a variety of other options as well.  Regardless of your plans, you will need to do some planning and organizing.

MyCollegeQuickStart  is a good place to start for all the information you need to know about SAT's and colleges.

MyRoad    "MyRoad-ID Me"  has a very useful Personality profile, which we ask every Junior to complete. It is very helpful when considering the best college environment for you as well as college majors and careers.
Students who took the PSAT receive a free subscription to "My Road".  This is the College Board program for searching for Careers, majors, and Colleges.

2.

COLLEGE SEARCHING AND COMPARING
If college is your plan, the search process can help you narrow your choices and choose the very best university for you

NFC -Naviance Family Connection is the ASIJ tool that Juniors and Seniors use to keep track of their colleges, complete helpful information for counselors, and search for the very best college.  It also offers very helpful information about ASIJ grads.  You will need an initial password from your counselor to begin setting up your own College Tracker.  Parents can view information on the web site, as well. Ask your counselor for the guest password.

3.

TESTING
Register for The SAT, SAT Subject Tests (if needed), and/or the ACT.
You will need a credit card, and don't forget your password. You will use it whenever you contact SAT.

DO I NEED TO TAKE SAT SUBJECT TESTS?
There are only 100+ colleges that require the SAT Subject Tests.  Check out these links to check requirements for specific colleges:

5.

CAREERS AND MAJORS
How do you decide what to study?  Finding a career, or even a college major can be a challenge.  Rest assured that the vast majority of students who enter college have no clear idea of what they might like to study, and people today make an average of four career moves in their working lives.
If you would like some help looking at careers and majors that match your interests, personality, and abilities, there is help.

6.
