Hakone, the Place to Be

Hakone

The Hakone trip starts with an express train from Shinjuku to the Hakone area.  At Hakone-Yumoto we will design a craft using the famous Hakone wooden mosaic blocks.  After lunch we will find our fortunes at the forested Hakone Shrine.  The evening will be spent in a beautiful 200 year old minshuku (Japanese inn) eating delicious Shabu-shabu and soaking in the natural hot springs.  The second day begins with a ride across Lake Ashi on the famous pirate boat with Mt. Fuji dominating the horizon then boarding a ropeway to Owakudani Valley with its old crater of Mt. Kamiyama which is still filled with hot bubbling pools of water and steam jets.  A visit to the  unique Hakone Open Air Sculpture Museum will precede our return trip to Tokyo.
