Highlights of the Northern Island

Hokkaido

This trip takes us far to the North to explore the island of Hokkaido.  After flying to Sapporo early Thursday morning, we board a bus and head to the Ainu Cultural Center & Museum.  Here we experience the cultural and traditions of the indigenous people of northern Japan.  Upon leaving the Ainu, we travel to Showa Shinzan where students will have the opportunity to take a cable car to observe the crater of a spectacular volcano.  Our hotel is located nearby and students will have free time to relax at the hotel's Water Park and Hot Springs.  Friday morning we bus to Sapporo Sata-land to learn the techniques of butter making, followed by free time in Sapporo City.  Before returning to the airport, students explore a recreation of an early Japanese settlement.
