Kiso Valley & Mt. Fuji

ASIJ's Kiso Valley JUMP trip spent their time traveling by bus, foot, and boat as they explored the beautiful, historic Kiso Valley area of the Central Alps. The restored Edo Period postal towns of Tsumago and Magome were the focal point the trip with a tour of the town and hike between the towns via the Nakasendo, one of the two main roads that linked Tokyo and Kyoto until the earlier part of this century. They also "shot the rapids" of the Tenryu river in traditional Japanese boats, attempted local craftwork, and stopped on our return to Tokyo at a recreational area for 'putter' golf, Alpine sledding, or bicycle rides. The morning of the third day it was off to the Kinezuka Fish Farm to catch brunch. This is a Japanese rainbow trout fish farm where you can catch trout to eat or just for the enjoyment of fishing. After a filling mid-morning meal our private motor coach whisked us away to Fuji-jyu Highlands for an afternoon of fun.
