A Tale of Two Cities: Kyoto and Kobe
ASIJ's JUMP trip to Kyoto/Kobe had fun exploring two contrasting cities: the traditional Kyoto and the modern Kobe. In Kyoto, they slept on tatami mats at a temple, visited the famous Golden Pavilion and admired the Ryoanji Rock Garden, cycled along the Kamo river to feel the relaxed pace of the city. In Kobe they took part in the excitement of Harbour Land at night, browsed in Kitano (the Foreign Quarters) among the western mansions of the early 20th century, had a Chinese lunch in Chinatown, and learned about the 1995 Earthquake at Memorial Park.
