                     Parts 1 and 2

Make sure you choose a different partner in your group.
Please read through your partner’s rough draft.  Be critical and honest.
Answer the question thoroughly.  The more information you give
your partner, the better their paper will be.  Give them ideas on
how to improve their writing!

Part 1

What is their hook?  How do they draw you into the story?

In the areas where “show not tell” writing is evident, are
there any sensory details they could add to paint a
more detailed picture?

Are there any areas where they can add dialogue and it will
paint a more detailed picture?

What impact will this topic have on the writer?

What is the writer’s personal connection to their topic?

Part 2

Does Part 2 flow out of Part 1, or is there an abrupt transition?
How could they improve this transition?

Is there a clear detailed discussion of what the author knows?

Is there a complete detailed discussion, using “show not tell”
writing, about what the author has seen and heard about their topic?

What do you know about their topic?

Is their research question clear by the end of Part 2?
Are there more creative ways they could pose their question?

Have they included any other questions they want to include
in their research?  Are there any questions you think would
add to their paper?

Does their narrative voice flow?  Look at areas where they can
add “show not tell” writing.

What did the writer do really well?

List three areas for improvement (action, sensory details, dialogue).
