Myths From Around The World  A retelling of one myth each from several countries.

The Age of Fable or Beauties of Mythology by Thomas Bulfinch  Mythology from Britain, Norse, Greek and Romans.  Use the search window to go through Bulfinch's book and click on what looks like a bibliographical note.

Mythome.org  Myth Home is a well researched site that covers myths from many cultures.  References for each section found on a separate page in the site.  This site also contains the names and functions of different characters in different cultures' mythologies.

Myth'ing Links The author of this site is a former professor of mythology.  She has created links inside and outside of her site on mythology from around the world.

Encyclopedia Mythica  Good for identifying who characters are that appear in myths.  Contains some stories (myths).

Library Think Quest:  Mythology from many countries.  A site formed through site competitions sponsored by Oracle.  Educators judge student entries and those that win the contest get added to the site. Many sites by our young authors deal with mythology.

Nihon no Shinwa  Japanese language site containing a few Japanese mythological stories.

Nihon no Shinwa 2  Japanese language site containing 6 myths from Japan.

Common Elements in Creation Myths  This paper was authored by a high school student who has had her site linked to several university sites.

Gods, Heroes, and Myths  A site with a multitude of links to myths from around the world.  Some of the outside material cannot be authenticated.

Folktales and Myths about Trees Covers many myths and folktales from around the world that deal with trees.

Greek Mythology  A site with many Greek myths and explanations of the different elements of Greek mythology like tables of heroes and heroines, tables of the gods and more.  A major problem with this site is that almost none of the material can be authenticated.

Greek Mythology and Pre-history   Provides analysis and explanations for the elements found in Greek myths like what the heroes represented, what society was like and what influenced it.

Myth Guide  A long list of Greek and Roman mythical stories.  Site cannot be authenticated, but the titles of stories can be searched online for reliable, quotable sources.

Indians.org  A organization set up by many of the Indian Nations to  teach and preserve their culture.

Perseus Digital Library  An evolving online library hosted by Tufts University which seeks in the short run to place classical texts into an online database.  There is a Perseus Lookup Tool to explain how to use Perseus.

Oceanic Mythology   Has myths from the Pacific Region.

The World (As We Know It) site is part of ThinkQuest.  This part deals with world mythology.  Click on the map to go to the region you want to explore.  The stories are simplistic.

Indian Mythology  An unauthenticated site containing many Indian legends and myths.

Stories from Indian Mythology  Some of the stories are linked to external sites which may be hard to authenticate.
