Rub Dr. Harris' nose and get a good grade on your exam!

Dr. Frederick P. Harris  was headmaster of the American School in Tokyo from 1957 to 1966. In 1966, the school’s library was named the Frederick P. Harris Library in his honor. He was a professor and chairman of the Oregon State University philosophy department from 1967 to 1976 and retired in 1980. He passed away in 2001.

During the school's Centennial year, Dr. Harris' daughter, Judy Garbutt, made a generous donation to the ASIJ libraries in her father's honor.

The plaque of Dr. Harris located in the Main Library  was designed by Ki Nimori and is said to have brought good luck to generations of ASIJ students.
