Massachusetts and Bridgton, Maine

Grew up in Pennsylvania, Tokyo, and New York; educated at Brown University 
and the University of Southern Maine

Honorary doctorate, University of Southern Maine

Four children: two sons, (one deceased); two daughters
Four grandchildren: James (19) Nadine (9) Grey (4) Rhys(2)

Author of numerous magazine articles and 29 books for young people
