MIDDLE SCHOOL CERAMICS COURSE DESCRIPTION-2000

The Middle School ceramic program uses the media of clay to; teach skills, techniques and processes relating to clay making and to explore and develop creative thinking. Students acquire skills by observation and experimentation with clay , glazes and various tools followed by more independent experimentation and practice. Students are challenged to problem solve using skills acquired in order to develop creative and innovative processes. Students will also be introduced to some cultural and historical contexts in which the ceramic arts play a role.
