| Ceramics students worked with coil construction
techniques to complete some beautiful ancient Greek style pots. As 2004 was
the year for the return of the Olympic Games to Athens, students paid
tribute to the ancient Greeks by creating some large pots that were inspired
by the distinctive red and black pottery styles of the past. These pots were made with red Shigaraki clay which looked a lot
like terracotta and then brushed it with several layers of black engobe.
Patterns and images were then scratched back into the leather hard clay to
reveal the red clay under the black glaze. |
