This is the home page for Sixth Grade Mathematics at the American School in Japan, a course currently taught by Ms. Allen and Mr. Fincher. Our curriculum is centered on the Connected Mathematics Project (CMP), which is a series that covers the middle grades. We were not at all surprised to find that Project 2061 of the American Association for the Advancement of Science rated the series as number one. You can read their report on the Project 2061 web site here. Furthermore, on October 6, 1999, the U.S. Department Of Education (DOE) Mathematics and Science Expert Panel ranked the program as "Exemplary". You can read the press release on the DOE site or read the full text of the report at the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse. You may also want to peruse the CMP web site, or see our Course Overview. |
