OUR RESEARCH PLAN

Our group members consist of Emmy Harris, Hiroyuki Tanaka, and Ally Levine. Emmy is studying fashion, Hiro is studying food, and Ally, film and entertainment.
Emmy, who is studying fashion, expects to find that this aspect of culture is gradually fading away. It is being taken over by Western styles, which are more comfortable and affordable, and the kimono and other traditional styles of Japan are disappearing. She will go about her research mainly through magazines and book sources, but also wants to take a survey of about ten Japanese people and gather their opinions.
Hiro is studying food, and he thinks that though this aspect of culture is being affected and changed by Western culture, it is still distinctly "Japanese" and fits into the modern category. He will do his research through the library, the Internet, and may use his grandparents for information on the "traditional" part of research.
Ally is looking into film and entertainment for project, and she thinks that though the film area is being affected by Western, traditional Japanese film is still being watched by the people and therefore this aspect is taking on a "modern" look. She wants to go about her research with books, magazines, and maybe a few surveys or interviews.
Our group as a whole thinks that though Japanese culture is being influenced by Western culture, it is not going to disappear as a whole and that it is taking on an entirely new look, which can only be described as "modern" and "very cool".
