NathanHi!  My name is Nathan.  I am 12 years old and in 6th grade.  This is my first year living overseas, in Japan.  I enjoy competitive swimming and golf.  I live in Tokyo with my parents and my two younger sisters. I enjoyed working on the South Africa section of our website.  I want to be a naval engineer or a stock analyst when I grow up.

Nana Hi! My name is Nana, and I am 11 years old. I am in 6th grade and this is my first year at ASIJ. I live in Tokyo with my brother and my parents, and my pet chameleon. I have moved 9 times in my life, but spent the majority of my life here in Japan.

MaryHello, I'm Mary, a 14 year old currently residing in Tokyo, Japan. For six years I attended ACS in Surrey, England, and the rest I've spent at ASIJ. My nationality is Japanese/American, and enjoy reading, drawing, and playing my guitar. Working on the Doors to Diplomacy "Peace and Democracy" project has been a great experience for me. Although it has been difficult, through it I've learned much about peace and how it is achieved.

YuhkiHello, my name is Yuhki.  I am in eighth grade and am 14 years old.  Having attended ASIJ for six years, and also lived in Japan for 9 years of my life, I am well aware of each country's culture. By moving to Manila for the 2003 school year, I hope to be exposed to an entirely different culture and become an international person.

FlorenceHello, my name is Florence, an only child. I'm 14 years old and my nationality is Japanese. My hobby is to read, write and draw. My deepest interests are constellations, witchcraft, astronomy, and Greek mythology. In the future, I plan to travel around the world to learn all the different cultures and languages.

Mr. Fincher and a penguinI'm Mr. Fincher and I helped with the technical part. I didn't start out as a teacher — I'm really an engineer who found himself in charge of a class of students by accident in 1997 and I never looked back. I currently teach math to sixth graders and also teach courses in programming, invention and engineering, multimedia, and keyboarding to all the grades. (Note to principal: Fewer courses next year, please.) Everybody was wonderful to work with, even during the occasional sheer panics that happen during any project this large. In many ways, our working together was like a flock of penguins, represented by this one created by Suneil, learning to keep warm during the harsh Antarctic winters.

Mrs. O'Connor-PalaciosKia ora! (That means hello!)  My name is Mrs. O'Connor-Palacios (or Mrs. O'C-P as the students call me).  I teach two 6th grade combined Language Arts/Social Studies classes, and an 8th grade Language Arts class.  We are a very diverse group with me being the only New Zealander on the team!  Like everyone else, I am constantly on the move, having lived in New Zealand, England, Venezuela and now Japan.  It has been my pleasure to work with such a dedicated and talented team of students, and I want to thank them for being the most creative, dedicated team ever.  O.k., they paid me to say that!
