Danielle (with suitcases ready to leave)

I really wish I could've seen Alicia before we left. I need to tell her I didn't mean to fight.

Mom

I'm sure she understands, honey. And you guys will write to each other.

Danielle (sarcastically)

Great! Penpals, how fun.

Dad (over excited)

Well, say good-bye to Tokyo and hello Idaho.

Danielle

Yeah, whatever, Dad. (start to exit)

Alice

Danielle, wait. Like hold on a sec.

Danielle (surprised)

Alicia, what are you doing here?

Alicia

I just couldn't have us separate and not be friends. I- I'm sorry about the way I acted last week. I just couldn't deal with the fact that I will have to live without you.

Danielle

I know. It hurts so much. Maybe it's just easier to fight and act like it doesn't matter.

Alicia

No, it does matter. (pause) I hope you will remember our good times whenever you look at this. (gives her a "best friend" chain)

Danielle (starts to cry, hugs Alicia, turns to leave, turns back)

Bye Alice.

Alicia

Bye, Danielle. (exit)
