Reflections on a Likeness of Me premiered June 1998 on the last day of school after a 72 hour non-stop editing session.
With the help of Mr. Jones and Coca Cola we met in Shibuya at Hachiko to receive video copies after school was out.
Reflections was re-edited to improve the sound, add credits, re-vamp the opening and fix a few other things. This new version (sarcastically called the "director's cut") was premiered a year later in March 1999 for a few cast members.
The second edit is what is shown on this web site. Contact ASIJ for a VHS a definitive copy.
A main theme in Reflections stems from the play, Cyrano De Bergerac. Vigeland peppered the script with references to the play including names of the lead characters.
Shooting took place from January to March 1998. Some pick-up shots and voice-overs were done later. The  movie begins in winter and ends in spring, paralleling the character's growth. You can find some seasonal continuity breaks.
The black and white Fantasy/Interviews are actual quotes from cast members. No actor says his or her own quote though. (Two quotes are from the director's middle school memories).
More to come.
