 | Reflections on a Likeness of Me premiered June 1998 on the last day
of school after a 72 hour non-stop editing session. |
 | With the help of Mr. Jones and Coca Cola we met in Shibuya at Hachiko to
receive video copies after school was out. |
 | Reflections was re-edited to improve the sound, add credits,
re-vamp the opening and fix a few other things. This new version
(sarcastically called the "director's cut") was premiered a
year later in March 1999 for a few cast members. |
 | The second edit is what is shown on this web site. Contact ASIJ for a VHS
a definitive copy. |
 | A main theme in Reflections stems from the play, Cyrano De
Bergerac. Vigeland peppered the script with references to the play
including names of the lead characters. |
 | Shooting took place from January to March 1998. Some pick-up shots and
voice-overs were done later. The movie begins in winter and ends in
spring, paralleling the character's growth. You can find some seasonal
continuity breaks. |
 | The black and white Fantasy/Interviews are actual quotes from cast
members. No actor says his or her own quote though. (Two quotes are from the
director's middle school memories). |
 | More to come. |
