Director Notes

Dr. Seuss has been part of our children’s lives since before most of us were children. His hundreds and hundreds of characters and creatures have entertained and taught. Reading skills, values, playfulness and, of course, rhyme. Seussical the musical incorporates elements of 15 of his books as well as many of his best loved characters in this unique story. Many never met one another before, but they meet here tonight in new and unexpected ways.

Dr. Seuss believed in helping a friend, in not giving up, in keeping a promise. He honors the value and dignity of others, in working to preserve the fragile sweetness of the natural world, and he believes that peace is the ultimate ideal among nations and in every heart. Sounds pretty good and we want to make his world real at least for a few days.

When Jojo thinks a think, it magically becomes real. But the magic of Seussical becomes real only through creative work of many wonderfully talented and dedicated actors, musicians, make up, design, costume, prop, and set artists. Through cooperation, high standards, and vision we make reality. Over 100 hundred students believed in Seussical and under the creative and educational guidance of their committed instructors this “think” has now become possible.

Seussical has been our world for three months. Now come join us.
