Marc
Marc L’Heureux came to ASIJ from Singapore American School where he was the deputy principal for 14 years. Marc has 32 years of teaching and leadership experience and has worked at the International School of Dusseldorf, Germany, the International School of Aberdeen, Scotland and in the beautiful state of Maine. Marc is married to Heidi a kindergarten teacher at ASIJ and they have three children—Hannah, Jacob and Eliza.

What kind of learning community is ASIJ’s elementary school?
I hope we are building a community of learners where questions are being asked and answers are being looked for because the child is engaged and passionate about what they are learning. Where children and teachers take chances and are excited to learn and grow as a community.
What’s the greatest lesson you’ve learned in your career?
Children want to learn and grow and that it is us the adults that have the greatest influence on their learning both positively and negatively. Kindness goes a long way.
What’s one thing about Maine every non-Mainer should know?
Maine is the most beautiful state during five months of the year.
