If you are moving to Japan for the first time, we are here to help you with a very important decision—choosing the right school for your children.
Thank you for your interest in The American School in Japan. In the Admissions pages, along with the information you will need to obtain a clear understanding of the admissions process for our campuses in Chofu (grades K to 12) and Roppongi (nursery, pre-K and Kindergarten), you will be able to review admissions procedures. If you are moving to Japan for the first time, we are here to help you with a very important decision—choosing the right school for your children.
Admissions staff at both campuses are available to answer your questions via phone and email. We welcome your requests for an appointment for an admissions visit, a tour of the campus, or to attend an open house event. Further information about admissions visits and open houses at both campuses can be found below.

Early Learning Center
To learn more about our Nursery, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten programs at our ELC in Roppongi, or if you would like to inquire about visiting the Early Learning Center, please contact ELC Director, Christy Carrillo at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 03-5771-4344.
Campus visits are currently restricted to newly enrolled families. As many families have recently arrived in Japan and have yet to see the campus where their children will attend, our priority is to give these parents a chance to see the campus.
If you are interested in learning more about ASIJ, please contact email@example.com to schedule a google meet. Due to the pandemic, we are not offering public campus tours at this time.
During your visit, you will have an opportunity to meet with a member of the Admissions staff and to see the campus and its facilities. Please note that there is no formal interview required prior to admission. The visit will help you learn more about ASIJ and whether the school is a good fit for your child's learning style and your family's educational objectives. We appreciate the chance to meet families and children prior to admission, but please view the visit as your opportunity to ask questions and gain the information you need to assess your school choices in Tokyo.
For those in the early stages of the school research and application process, several open houses are held each year. The purpose of the Open House is to explain admissions procedures and answer questions about ASIJ.
Early Learning Center
The Early Learning Center offers Open House events for prospective parents throughout the year. These events provide insight into our philosophy and approach, and into the experiences of our children and families. ASIJ seeks to know, value, and care for each member of our community and this effort starts during our application process. We know this is an important decision for your family and we are honored that you are considering our program.
This school year, our Open House events are scheduled at 11 AM and 1 PM on the following dates:
March 11, 2022
Please note that due to our health and safety guidelines, we are only inviting families with children who are eligible to apply for the 2022-2023 school year and only one parent per family.
Depending on the state of the pandemic, we will hold these Open House Events as scheduled in person and in small groups, or virtually. We will confirm with you as we approach the date.
Please contact the ELC at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or register here.
Our virtual Open House sessions have concluded for the fall season. We hosted four total sessions and had over 225 participants from over 15 countries! We do have recorded versions of the sessions held on October 7th. Please contact email@example.com if you would like to view a recorded open house.Thank you for considering ASIJ!
